Wheat Cloverleaf Rolls

Wheat Cloverleaf Rolls Ingredients:
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup margarine or butter cut up
  • 1-1/2 cups bread flour
  • 1-1/2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast or bread machine yeast
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • Sesame seed poppy seed, and/or caraway seed
Wheat Cloverleaf Rolls Spread Instructions

1. Add the first 8 ingredients to a 1-1/2- or 2-pound bread machine according to the manufacturer's directions. Select the dough cycle. When the cycle is complete, remove dough from machine. Punch down. Cover and let rest for 10 minutes. 2. Lightly grease 16 muffin cups. Divide dough in half. Divide each half into 24 pieces (for a total of 48 pieces). Shape each piece into a ball. Place 3 balls in each muffin cup. In a small mixing bowl stir together the egg white and the water; brush over rolls. Sprinkle rolls lightly with sesame seed, poppy seed, and/or caraway seed. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 20 to 25 minutes or until nearly double. Bake in a 375 degree F oven for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm. Makes 16 servings.
